Rajah & Tann Singapore (R&T) has bagged five top wins at the Benchmark Litigation Asia-Pacific Awards 2022 including Singapore Firm of the Year for the third consecutive year, Asia-Pacific Insolvency Firm of the Year, and three Impact Case awards.
The annual awards recognise excellence in litigation and disputes practices across the region, and were announced on 26 May 2022 by the leading New York-based magazine on the world’s leading litigation firms and lawyers.
Assegaf Hamzah & Partners, part of the Rajah & Tann Asia (RTA) network, won Indonesia Firm of the Year for the third consecutive year as well as two Impact Case awards, while R&T Asia (Thailand) Limited came in third in the Thailand Firm of the Year category.

One of the three Impact Case awards was for R&T’s role in advising Hin Leong Trading and its judicial managers following the Asian oil trading giant’s collapse in 2020, which was one of the world’s largest involving an oil trader.
The other Impact Case awards were for representing Mr Mustaq Ahmad, founder of Mustafa Centre, in one of the largest minority oppression cases to be brought before the Singapore Court; and for the landmark Prudential Assurance Company case involving the mass poaching of over 240 insurance agents.
The court’s ruling in favor of Prudential served as a reminder to financial institutions to review and ensure that their agency agreements and employment contracts make provisions for general duty of good faith and fidelity, as well as for clauses for non-solicitation obligations.
AHP’s Impact Case awards were for their work on flag carrier Garuda Indonesia’s proposed restructuring and China State Construction and its Sino-Indonesian affiliate’s contract dispute with engineering and building construction company Mahkota Sentosa Utama.
